Influences
The people who have inspired me include my parents, My neurologist Orin Devinsky, my great grandmother, Jackie Robinson, and people who look to go in to medical school to become a doctor even though the track for them was far from easy.
about.
Hello I'm Nick Boehly, and I am currently a pre-med student at TCU. I grew up in Darien, Connecticut about a hour outside New York City. I love playing and watching sports like Baseball, Football, Soccer, and Basketball, traveling, hitting the TCU recreational center, and making new friends. I root for the Dodgers, the Lakers, Chelsea, and of course the Horned Frogs. Growing up in a prosperous area has further fueled my desire to help other not just in medical ways but in simple ways of support as well
Final campaign
What my campaign goes over
-
For my Final Campaign I decided not to focus primarily on chemistry club, but more about the issues our society faces with certain people being able to become doctors. As I mentioned before Chemistry club assists kids at places like the elementary school Burton Hill where they boost their interest in science and give the belief that they can succeed. I then began searching the issues that our society faces with certain people, primarily minorities and females, with both making it to as well as going through medical school to become doctors.
Pitch
I’m Nick Boehly from Connecticut and I am currently a neuroscience major on the premed track here at TCU. For my campaign I diverted my attention away from the chemistry club to the social issues in the pre-Med track. Devastatingly low numbers of medical physicians are black as the pathway for many of them is far from easy. Women often face issues in the medical world by not being offered promotions or raises as frequently as men and tend to be paid a lower salary as well. I plan to spread these issues through twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok all of which are commonly used by people in a wide range of ages. I hope that by doing this I can open the eyes of people, making them understand that we still have not fully fixed inequality in our world. Additionally, I hope it causes more people to volunteer at projects that will help young black kids with medical aspirations believe that even in tough situations they still have a chance to fulfill their dream of becoming a doctor
